Aldi has announced that it is recalling it’s mini deep fat fryer products over concerns that it may have potential to cause electric shocks.
Customers that have purchased the product from the Ambiano range have been informed to return them to the stores to get a full refund.
Via their Facebook page, Aldi issued the following notice: “As a precautionary measure we have initiated a recall of this product due to a potential electrical fault.
“Customers are asked to return the product to the nearest store, where a full refund will be given. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation.”
Specifically Aldi is recalling fryers with the batch codes 20072452, 20072476 and 20072469 that cost £19.99 in stores as part of the budget supermarket’s twice-weekly Specialbuy promotions.
One customer wrote on Facebook: “Mine went mental and I had to put it in the bin. I blamed the oil. But did exactly the same with my Dad’s.”
As part of the PAT testing process, the insulation resistance test is performed specifically to determine whether exposed parts of an appliance may have the potential to give an electric shock. Kitchen and outdoor appliances are particularly vulnerable to water or oil ingress which can act like a wire between live parts of the appliance and parts the user may touch.
